Self portrait – for Dverse

My face has softened
And when I look at it
I see too many lines.

My body has been
A battleground
For too long now

But I’m still here –
Laughing too loudly,
Hitting the dance floor early,
Dreaming of blue distances,
Wishing on stars.

The poetry pub is open over at Dverse and we are asked to write a self portrait. That’s me, that is.

  1. Yes indeed. I used the term “Swimmer in Amanogawa” in my poem. I think you swim as well. We grow older but we don’t grow old. We survive. We never stop dreaming. Perfect poem and golden.
