NaPoWriMo 8 – Waiting

We are waiting to begin.

We queued, reassured

That we’d be seen,

Waiting in the room

With the arched ceiling,

Just waiting to begin.

We queued for coffee,

Food, talked about

Inconsequential things.

We were just waiting to begin.

The whole things running late,

We knew it would. The hall

Echoes with shouts and bells.

A girl plaits hair. A cheer.

We’re all just waiting to begin.

Out there there’s sunshine,

But in here its strip lights.

No windows. Minutes tick by.

The day slips past.

We are still waiting. Waiting to begin.

Better late than never. This is the day I had yesterday, and why I didn’t post.l
