Each sound
hangs
in the night silence
like a flame
in darkness. The tick
of the clock shimmers
like a stone in a well,
and somewhere
there is an owl,
lonely as the moon,
calling.
The house dreams
gently,
and I hear you
breathing
Victoria at dVerse gives us the word “sound” as our quadrille key word tonight.
Delicately beautiful.

This must be one of those long sleepless nights. I’ve heard that same owl outside my window; the moon rising and listening to the sounds of night. Sometimes it’s kind of nice, unless I get up and look at a clock and it’s only 4:00 a.m. Then I feel real tired

There is something so positive about being awake.. not like insomnia but far better, a choice maybe.

The stone in a well is a good inviting simile, asking us gently to listen to the subtle tones.
