Guess what I saw this morning? – poem for dVerse.

There was a dragon
in the valley, curled
like a white cat:
each scale a pearl;
each breath a cloud
of soft white silk –
’til the whole valley
was a bowl of milk –
as the sun brightens
with the coming day,
such dragons fade.

De – the wonderful WhimsyGizmo – is hosting at dVerse tonight, and here be dragons. Our quadrilles are infested with the pesky things…

  1. LOVE this! The way it begins reminds me of “And to Think that I Saw it on Mulberry Street” by Dr. Seuss. We should all bring a little more imagination into the day, I think. Love this, especially:
    “each scale a pearl;
    each breath a cloud”

    Breathtaking.

  2. Ah, we too have dragons such as this. Always a treat to catch them before they melt away. Perfectly captured in verse, Sarah; I shall think of your words next tme I come upon a dragon in our valley 🙂
