Out here
in the cold
and the dark
I can see the glow
from the lighted windows
of neighbours’ houses
and up on the hill
the golden lights
from the edge
of the village
and my own kitchen
spilling warmth
and Christmas scents
Lillian is hosting at dVerse tonight, and she’s looking for quadrilles including the word “glow”. We’re sliding gently towards Christmas, and the dVerse winterlude. Check out those poems while you can.
Oh how I love this season! And I do love the idea of a kitchen spilling warmth and Christmas scents! 🙂 WONDERFUL!

Outside looking in works well here, like a poetic introspection. When I was in the Navy I spent a lot of time looking at other people’s windows from outside.

Being out in that cold and stepping feels so warm. I like how you describe your home as part of the village and identify the lights from your home there.

I love this view of Christmas Eve, Sarah, and your kitchen ‘spilling warmth and Christmas scents’. You’ve enhanced my dreary, chilly, rainy morning with a warm glow!
