Petals scattered
pink and white
across the lawn,
the path –
roses,
heads hanging heavy –
and the grass –
green – too green –
and the soft bee buzz
starting up again.
Frank is hosting at dVerse tonight, and we are looking at imagism. Check it out.
Now this is imagery in the action of being! I love each evocative turn of phrase, and the sensory appeal of it all! Wonderful!

Wonderful writing Sarah. I see it all so clearly -colour and scent and that sound
“the soft bee buzz
starting up again.”

This really does challenge the senses, Sarah. The pretty image and well as the heaviness. A good balance here.

With all the soft colors and the soft bee sound that green grass, too green, really pops. Very nice

One can see literally the lazy movements of the bee. Great imagery Sarah!

You said petals pink and white and with your poem’s title, my mind evoked the very short life of the cherry blossoms that also fall away in spring rains and are gone before most roses begin to bud.

Funny, I jumped into reading, skipped over the title, thought how clear a picture of after a summer rain. Love how the bee at the end says its over, get on with the other business of summer.
