I have always liked those old lecturns made in the shape of eagles. I like the idea that words will fly into the distance, that they will soar above us, that they have their own power. Give words wings, let them fly.

A haibun for Frank Tassone at dVerse, where our theme is eagles.
Beautiful, “give words wings” what a great line! And loved you Eagle POV haiku too.

I’ve never seen a lecturn in the shape of an eagle. Sounds an impressive idea. I love the idea of giving words wings.
How interesting! I just googled it, and it seems to be a particularly Church of England thing. I’ve always just taken them for granted!
Beautiful write Sarah!
Nice take on the prompt! Poets must have eagle eyes to spot every detail, note it down and bring it to life!
Beautiful approach to the prompt, Sarah!
“Give words wings, let them fly. ” — I like that thought.
