Day 19 of NaPoWriMo and we are asked to write a abecedarian poem – an alphabet poem. The formatting on WordPress is so limited. I want to write in single line spacing. There must be a way of doing that? It’s not like poets are a freaky minority demanding something weird. Single line spacing is a pretty standard way of writing a poem. I did this on Word, but the formatting just gets lost. Drives me mad. Linking to dVerse, too, even though this is not the poem I’m proudest of.

    • BTW, Sarah, you wrote on my blog: “Sabio, you keep writing poems about how difficult you find the villanelle, …” But actually, none of them were about villanelle and the last one in jest. I actually love rhyme, but also free verse. This is the first alphabet poem I have really enjoyed.

  1. Your abecedarian poem is delightful, Sarah. I agree about the formatting on WordPress but you can switch to html mode and delete the lines in between. What I enjoyed about this poem is that it reads down like a cue card, it’s also a letter from a Zephyr and it has the cutest asides, especially‘It’s the springtime boogie-woogie’ and ‘I’m the breeze on your skin, just skimming’!

  2. My first alphabet poem. I’m intrigued. (I share your frustration re line spacing and format. I have a similar problem with centering.)

  3. That has a wonderful beat to it Sarah! Delightful!

Switch to HTML editor on wordpress.. that’s what I do if I want a single spacing.. it’s so annoying sometimes when I do all the formatting and then paste it on wordpress and everything goes haywire!
