Short, not so sweet and familiar. I’ve never mastered the art of the ‘swift flick glance’ and I’m glad I didn’t. We’re better off with pets – they don’t laugh at you and they don’t keep secrets.
This is powerful. That undecipherable “swift flick glance” that can dole out pain is so quick and unobtrusive that it can leave the injured in doubt, what just happened? I’m going to share this poem with my tween relatives. It’s so inspirational — and articulates what bubbles below the surface.
I could see and feel that “swift flick glance”. We know the power of hurtful words but even a look can kill our spirit. So sad to think that many endure this daily as part of bullying.
Ohhhh. I can picture this. It sounds like high school.
